WHO I AM
I’m Christa Avampato. I make a living as a product developer, strategic consultant, marketer, teacher, and fundraiser. I make a life as a storyteller, journalist, author, filmmaker, and theatrical producer. I’m also a scientist with an expertise in biomimicry—the study of biology and the integration of its genius into a human-made world that is sustainable and healthy.

My career has stretched across Capitol Hill, Broadway theatre, education, nonprofit fundraising, health and wellness, TV, film and video game production, and Fortune 500 companies in retail, media, entertainment, technology, and financial services.

I have also been an invited speaker at SXSW, Teach for America, Avon headquarters, Games for Change, NYU, Columbia University, Hunter College, and the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
MY CREATIVE PROJECTS
I created, produce, and host the live storytelling show New York City’s Secrets and Lies, a two-truths-and-a-lie style show about secret New York City history. It’s a good time—everyone who comes to the show walks away as the most interesting dinner guest in the city and one person who correctly guesses the lie walks away with a fantastic prize. It’s now being adapted for television.
The first book in my young adult book series, Emerson Page and Where the Light Enters, was acquired by a publisher and launched in November 2017. It won the Nautilus Book Award for Young Adult Fiction, the Reader’s Favorite Award for Young Adult Adventure, the Wind Dancer Films Award, and was a Finalist in the ScreenCraft Cinematic Book Competition. It’s now also being adapted for television.
As a collage artist, I cut up small bits of paper from ads that tell us we have to buy more to be more and put them back together in ways that empower us to stand in our own light exactly as we are right now.
